The Beach
Portwrinkle beach consists of two sand and shingle beaches with an abundance of rock pools and a small harbour. It is a popular beach with families as it is easy to access (although the paths are a little steep) and seems to get the sun all day! It is also good for pushchair and disabled access making it suitable for the whole family.
The East beach (known as Finnygook Beach!) is often used by experienced surfers – great to watch from the café, especially in the winter when the surf is particularly good! There are, however, no lifeguards on duty at the beaches and there are plenty of hidden rocks, so whilst swimming is not forbidden, paddling is probably preferable!
It is also worth bearing in mind that there is a limited beach at high tide, so make sure you check the tide tables before you set off. Click here to check out our Weather & Tides page for more information.
